Indian Government Policies and Schemes.

We would like to highlight some of the policies and schemes of the Government of India. There may be mistakes somewhere.

Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Protsahan Yojana (PMRPY)

The total numbers of employees under PMRPY 1.18 crore.

The basics

. The Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Protsahan Yojana (PMRPY) Scheme was announced in the Budget for 2016-17.

. The objective of the scheme is to promote employment generation.

. The scheme is being implemented by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

. Under the scheme, employers would be provided with an incentive for enhancing employment by reimbursement of the 8.33% EPS contribution made by the employer in respect of new employment.

. The PMRPY scheme is targeted for workers earning wages up to15,000 per month.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana

Cancer treatments will soon be covered under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana/ Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

The basics

. PM-JAY is a Central Government’s Health Insurance Scheme.

. It aims to give medical cover to over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families of approximately 50 crore beneficiaries.

. It provides coverage of up to 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

The basics

. Ujjwala Yojana aims to provide Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) connection to poor households.

. Under the scheme, an adult woman member of a below poverty line family identified through the Socio- Economic Caste Census (SECC) is given a deposit free LPG connection with financial assistance of Rs 1,600 per connection by the centre.

. Eligible households will be identified in consultation with state governments and Union Territories.

. The scheme is being implemented by the Ministry Petroleum and Natura GAS.

Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana

The basics

. 30,85,205 persons enrolled in PM-SYM as on July 10, 2019.

. Launched by the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, the scheme was announced in the Interim Budget 2019.

. PM-SYM is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme that will engage as many as 42 crore workers in the unorganised sector.

. The unorganised sector workers, with an income of less than 15,000 per month and who belong to the entry age group of 18-40 years. will be eligible for the scheme.

. Those workers should not be covered under the New Pension Scheme (NPS), Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) scheme or Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).

. Each subscriber under the scheme will receive a minimum assured pension of 3000 per month after attaining the age of 60 years.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi

Government has announced the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN).

. Under this programme, vulnerable landholding farmer families, having cultivable land up to 2 hectares, will be provided direct income support at the rate of 6000 per year.

. This income support will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiary farmers, in three equal instalments of 2000 each.

. Around 12 crore small and marginal farmer families are expected to benefit from this.

. It would not only provide assured supplemental income to the most vulnerable farmer families, but would also meet their emergent needs especially before the harvest season.

. It would pave the way for the farmers to earn and live a respectable living.

Pradhan Mantri Gram SADAK Yojana-LLL (PMGSY-III)

The basics

. Under the PMGSY-III Scheme, it is proposed to consolidate 1,25,000 km road length in the states.

. It involves consolidation of Through Routes and Major Rural Links connecting habitations to Gramin Agricultural Markets (GrAMs), Higher Secondary Schools and Hospitals.

. The funds would be shared in the ratio of 60:40 between the Centre and State for all States except for 8 North Eastern and 3 Himalayan States (Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) for which it is 90:10.

. A total of 5,99,090 km road length has been constructed under the scheme since inception till April 2019 inclusive of PMGSY-I, PMGSY-II and RCPLWEA Scheme.

Jal Hi Jeevan Hai

The basics

. The scheme is for replacement of Paddy by Maize and other crops in 7 dark zone blocks.

. The target is to diversify around 50,000 Hectare area from this season.

. Due to continuous Paddy growing in the State about 1 metre water table is depleting per year. Crop diversification through the above scheme is intended to promote technological innovation with sustainable agriculture and enables farmers to choose crop alternatives for increasing productivity and income.

Jal Shakti Abhiyan

The centre is set to initiate the Jal Shakti Abhiyan to ramp up rainwater harvesting and conservation efforts in 255 water stressed districts from July 1, in line with the government’s promise to focus on water.

The basics

. The campaign would be coordinated by 255 central IAS officers of joint or Additional Secretary-rank.

. The campaign would run from July 1 to September 15 in States receiving rainfall during the south-west monsoon, while States receiving rainfall in the retreating or north-east monsoon would be covered from October 1 to November 30.

. The scheme aims to accelerate water harvesting, conservation and borewell recharge activities already being carried out under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Van Dhan Yojana

Training Workshop for implementing teams Van Dhan Yojana has been organized.

The basics

. The initiative aims to promote Minor Forest Produce MFP centric livelihood development of tribal gatherers and artisans.

. It mainstreams the tribal community by promoting primary level value addition to MFP at grassroots level.

. Through this initiative, the share of tribals in the value chain of Non-Timber Forest produce is expected to rise from the present 20% to around 60%.

. The scheme will be implemented though Ministry of Tribal Affair as Nodal Department at the Central Level and TRIFED as Nodal Agency at the National Level.

. Aspirational Districts Programme

. The basics

. Launched in January 2018 the ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme aims to quickly and effectively transform some of the most underdeveloped districts of the country.

. The broad contours of the programme are Convergence of Central and State Scheme, Collaboration of Central, State level ‘Prabhari’ Officers and District Collectors, and Competition among districts driven by a Mass Movement or a Jan Andolan.

. With States as the main drivers, this program will focus on the strength of each districts, identify low-hanging fruits for immediate improvement, measure progress, and rank districts.

National Dairy Plan

Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying is implementing World Bank assisted National Dairy Plan-I in 18 States to support milk cooperatives and milk producer companies along with breeding improvement initiative.

. The basics

. National Dairy Plan Phase-I NDP is a Central Sector Scheme.

. Funding will be through a line of credit from the International Development Association (IDA) which along with the share of the Government of India will flow from DADF to NDDB and in turn to eligible End Implementing Agencies (EIAs).

. NDP I will focus on 18 major milk-producing states namely Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Jharkhand, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttarakhand. and West Bengal, which together account for over 90% of the country’s milk production.

Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana

The basics

. The ”Mahila Kisan Sashaktikaran Pariyojana” (MKSP), a sub component of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana NRLM DAY-NRLM seeks to improve the present status of women in Agriculture, and to enhance the opportunities available to empower them.

. MKSP recognizes the identity of ”Mahila” as ”Kisan” and strives to built the capacity of women in the domain of agro-ecologically sustainable practices.

. It has a clear vision to reach out to the poorest of poor households and expand the portfolio of activities currently handled by the Mahila Kisan.

. Funding support to the tune of up to 60% (90% for North Eastern States) for such projects is provided by the Government of India.

Saras AAJEEVIKA Mela

SARAS Aajeevika Mela is being organised by the Ministry of Rural Development in New Delhi from 10 October to 23rd October 2019.

The basics

. It is an initiative under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Rural Livelihoods Mission DAY-NRLM.

. The marketing arm of the Ministry, Council for Advancement of People’s Action and Rural Technology CAPART is administering the Mela.

. Through the initiative the women will get exposure to understand the demand of urban customers.

. The products include handicrafts, a food court with regional cuisines, handlooms and natural food products.

And there are many such Government schemes.
